General Rules and Regulations of the Fair 1. The SOCIETY will not be responsible for any loss, damage, or accident, occurring to any person or property on the grounds during the Fair. The Society will take all reasonable care of the exhibits but will not be held responsible for any loss or damage. All exhibitors must show proof of liability insurance upon request. All fairgoers attend at their own risk.2. Any personal information or photographic representation/likeness collected by the Smithville Agricultural Society regarding members, exhibitors, commercial vendors, sponsors, directors and any other persons related directly to the business of Smithville AgriculturalSociety, will be soley used for the purposes of promotion of the Smithville Agricultural Society and for the maintenance of their files and data base. Any member, exhibitor, commercial vendor, sponsor or director realizes that when they agree to take part in the Smithville Agricultural Society/Smithville Fair, that their personal information may be published for these reasons only. No collected information whatsoever will be sold or transferred to any outside party for any reason. 3. Any person who attempts to interfere with Judges while in charge of their duties or afterwards on the premises of the Society, or who uses any contentious or abusive language to any Judge in consequence of any award made to him, shall forfeit his right to any prize to which he otherwise may be entitled and shall be excluded from the fair for one year afterwards. No exhibitor will be allowed to speak to the Judge while in charge of their duty. 4. All animals exhibited will be required to be securely tied while on the grounds. All exhibitors bringing livestock onto the Fair Grounds must provide, upon request, proof of liability insurance in the amount of one million dollars. 5. All animals must be exhibited before the Judge to be eligible for prizes. This applies to championships as well. 6. All livestock must be purebred unless otherwise indicated. Registration papers must be available in case of dispute. 7. All exhibits other than livestock must be grown or produced in the current year by the exhibitor. Animals must be the property of the exhibitor unless otherwise indicated in the prize list. 8. Only one entry will be allowed under each section of each class, except livestock in which not more than two entries will be allowed by an exhibitor, unless otherwise stated. 9. Animals not ready at the proper place and time will forfeit the right of competition. 10. Ages of horses will be calculated from January 1st of the year in which they were foaled. 11. The Society may withhold a prize from any animal or article improperly classed or unworthy of a prize. They may also award only such prizes as the Judge considers such an animal or article is entitled to receive. 12. No entry fee will be charged but 10% will be deducted instead from all prize money, except where otherwise stated. Next year’s membership fee can be deducted from any prize money won. 13. Protest may be made against the irregularity or breech of rules by an exhibitor or interested party. Any person making such a protest will be required to deposit with the Treasurer, the sum of $5.00 and if the protest is not sustained the said amount will be retained by the Society. The President, Vice-President and Committee Chairman shall be a committee to decide on the protest. Their decision to be final in all cases. 14. Section 19(2) of the Agricultural Societies Act preventing certain performances, huckstering or trafficking in merchandise, etc. within 300 yards of the fairgrounds on the days of an exhibition shall be enforced. 15. Information in this book was accurate at the time of printing. Any changes, corrections or clarifications are at the discretion of the Smithville Agricultural Society Directors. In case an error occurs in the printing of the prize list, the Directors have the power to rectify same. |
